What is the dress code?

It is going to be hot.  We want everyone to feel relaxed, effortless, and comfortable. For the welcome dinner: Casual Cocktail. Something you would wear to a party on the beach - linen, cotton, sandals. For the ceremony:  Summer Formal. Yes, it's a wedding but it is still very us. Lauren will be in silk and no shoes. Sean will be in linen, a lot of gold jewellery and maybe a shirt, if we’re lucky. Dress so you are not sweating buckets and ready to dance. Think long silk dresses and no ties. For the recovery: Casual. Come ready for pizza, pool time, and doing very little very well.

What about Mount Etna?

Yes, Etna is an active volcano....and yes, she erupts fairly regularly! The good news is that this is completely normal for Sicily and doesn't mean Catania shuts down every time Etna gets a little dramatic.The worst-case scenario for the wedding: Catania Airport (CTA) temporarily closes, causing flights to be delayed, canceled, or diverted to another Sicilian airport (usually Palermo). While that would be an annoying inconvenience, it does not mean you can't reach Catania. When flight disruptions happen, local transport options (including redirected flights, extra buses, trains, and shuttles) are quickly set up across the island.Our venues have assured us they will remain open and the wedding will go ahead regardless - we might just end up celebrating La Dolce Vita with a slightly ashier Sicilian backdrop!

I've seen the bushfire news - should I be worried?

Given our track record… this is a completely valid question to ask! 😂The good news, we specifically picked late September because the peak summer heatwaves of July and August have passed, bringing comfortable 25°C to 28°C temperatures and coincidentally (or was it, Lauren did plan this trip...) drastically lowering the wildfire risk across Southern Europe. While dry scrubland in rural mountain areas can see seasonal brush fires during mid-summer, our venues and hotels are in safe, well-established areas with zero direct threat.

Should I hire a car?

We will be organising transport for the wedding weekend but in saying that we think a car in Sicily is always a great idea because it gives your freedom to explore!

If you’re extending your trip and exploring more of Sicily, a car can be helpful, especially for beaches and smaller towns. But it’s completely optional.

Do I have to come to everything?

No. Truly.
Everything across the weekend is optional. Join what feels good, skip what doesn’t, rest when you need to. This is meant to feel like a holiday, not a checklist.

Where else should I go in Sicily?

Accepted Answer

If you’re making a holiday of it (highly encouraged), there are plenty of beautiful options - islands, beaches, towns, and countryside.

We will share a few favourites on the Details page shortly, but there’s no wrong way to do Sicily. Slow days, long lunches, swims, repeat.

How bad is the jet lag?

It depends who you are.

If you’re like Sean - totally fine.
If you’re like Lauren - it can be a bit tough.

The good news is the weekend is paced gently, with flexibility built in. You can dip in and out, rest when you need to, grab a nap, skip a moment - do it your way.

Can my kids come?

Accepted Answer

Yes - absolutely. We love your kids as much as you do.

Just let us know when you RSVP, as we’re planning kids’ meals, babysitters / kids’ clubs for events, and a few little treats to keep them happy - and you on the dancefloor (or at the bar).

What if my plans change after I RSVP?

Life happens.

If anything changes closer to the date, just let us know when you can and we’ll adjust. No stress.

What do I book?

Flights and accommodation are the main things to lock in when you can.

Everything else - restaurants, beach days, wandering - will be either booked by us or you will get a welcome pack when you arrive and it can all be decided once you’re there.

What should I pack?

Accepted Answer

Think light, easy, and unfussy. It will be warm during the day, cooler in the evenings, and we’ll spend a lot of time outdoors.

Bring swimmers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and anything that helps you settle in - a book, a journal, a favourite pair of sandals.

Sean and I will be leaving after breakfast on the 28th of September, but of course you can leave earlier if you would like after the ceremony, or pool party. We are not fussed! Just the fact you're coming at all means the world to us!
