Our Sicily
Plans
Pre-Game (ie days before the wedding)
The wedding is in Catania, and we’ll be there a few days early to soak it all in. If you’re arriving before the 25th, please let us know. We’d love to see you!
While Catania city is beautiful, the little seaside towns just outside are where we’ve left our hearts. If you’re looking for a base nearby, we highly recommend staying in Aci Castello or Aci Trezza.
Where to Hang Out
-
Caffè Europa: This is a true Catania institution and our absolute favorite. It’s elegant, classic, and known by locals for having the best arancini in the city.
-
Le Caveau - Wine Bar & More (Aci Castello): The sandwiches here are a must. It’s a cozy, atmospheric spot with an incredible wine selection.
-
Sicilia’s Cafe de Mar (Aci Trezza): Our go-to for a morning granita or a sunset cocktail overlooking the "Faraglioni" volcanic rocks.
-
Beach Clubs: For a proper "lounge by the Ionian sea" day, check out Mama Sea or Esagono Beach Club. They have great platforms over the water, music, and excellent seafood.
Wind-down (ie days after the wedding)
After the wedding, we’ll be heading up the coast to Taormina for a few days of relaxation before we jet off to Greece for our honeymoon. We'll be staying at Relais 147.
We have no formal plans - just lots of pasta, plenty of pool time, and zero alarms. If you’re planning on staying in town during these dates, please let us know! We’d love to keep you in the loop for casual group dinners or sunset drinks while we’re all there. We will be there till the 1 October.

Exploring Sicily
Since you’re making the trip, why not see a bit more of the island that stole our hearts?
Here are four of our favorite spots we think you’ll love:
-
Ortigia (Siracusa): A small island that is the historic heart of Siracusa. It’s all narrow white-stone alleys, Baroque squares, and incredible swimming spots right off the rocks. Tip: head to the Ortigia street market for a sandwich at Caseificio Borderi.
-
Cefalù: A postcard-perfect medieval beach town on the north coast. It’s famous for its massive "Rocca" mountain and the stunning Norman Cathedral but Sean just liked the fact that the beaches had real sand.
-
Salina: One of the lush Aeolian Islands. It is incredibly peaceful and green.
We absolutely love Hotel Signum here (it was a strong venue contender) even if you aren't staying there, their terrace is the perfect spot for a drink and the food is next level. -
Taormina: The "Pearl of the Ionian Sea." It is way more than just where white lotus was filmed. Perched high on a cliff with Mount Etna as its backdrop. Don't miss the Ancient Greek Theater!
